DAILY SPEND WATCH

📊 Public Sector Spending Analysis: Contracts Finder Report March 24, 2025

Market Analysis

248 contracts worth £19.15 billion were awarded on 24th March 2025, with government investment heavily favoring digital and physical infrastructure. Communications and construction sectors dominated awards, with primary contracts worth £18.9B creating extensive downstream opportunities.

With 67.3% of the 248 contracts awarded on 24th March SME-suitable, smaller businesses maintain a strong footing in public procurement. While large contracts represent only 12.5% of awards, they account for 99.8% of the total value, offering substantial subcontracting possibilities in supply chains.

Of the £19.15 billion awarded, contract value was heavily concentrated (99%) in nationwide initiatives rather than regional projects, signaling a coordinated national strategy rather than localized development priorities.

OPPORTUNITY PICKS

Overview: LondonEnergy has issued a tender for the treatment and disposal of mixed municipal waste (MSW) split into five lots, with a total contract value of £8 million.

💡 Winning Strategies: Focus on operational resilience in your bid

Your strongest differentiator will be demonstrating robust operational resilience—especially for Lot 5's ad-hoc requirements. While competitors will focus primarily on price (70% weighting), winning bids typically excel in the quality component (30%) by proving reliable handling of unplanned maintenance activities and guaranteeing service during peak periods. Include specific contingency plans, backup facilities, and your track record of adapting to variable waste volumes without service interruption. LondonEnergy is clearly prioritizing dependability alongside cost, as evidenced by their urgency designation and emphasis on guaranteed tonnage fulfillment.
