INTERNATIONAL VIEW

Global Defence Contracts Overview (March, 2025)

  • Total spending: £118.6 million across primarily the UK (85%) and US (15%)

  • Top three suppliers (Cubic Defence UK, PAGE SECURITY INC, JFD Limited) captured over 90% of all contract value

  • UK Ministry of Defence emerged as the most active buyer globally

  • Key focus areas: training systems, specialized equipment, and security services

  • Market pattern: Strategic emphasis on high-value capability upgrades rather than distributed procurement

OPPORTUNITY PICKS

Overview: UKRI-4763 NERC is seeking specialized aviation safety expertise to develop comprehensive safety cases for scientific research aircraft operating in extreme environments with a total value of £500,000 over two years.

💡 Winning Strategies

Develop a phased knowledge transfer approach that demonstrates how your team will not only develop the safety cases but also systematically build UKRI's internal capabilities. This should include a detailed training program, documentation templates, decision-making frameworks, and mentoring processes that will enable UKRI to maintain and update safety cases independently after contract completion. This forward-thinking approach directly addresses their need for "processes and supporting procedures to enable further subsequent development and review in-house" while providing excellent value beyond the contract period.
